Hi Friends,



Welcome to my blog! This will be a very basic message, just to get things rolling.



I just had the delight to meet my all-time favorite actor and inspiration, Meryl Streep. She was "In Conversation" with Jonathan Demme at Riverspace in Nyack. The evening was magical. After a fabulous pre-show reception (with the best apple/brie dumplings in the world!), we were escorted into the theatre, where we had front-row seats to an incredible evening of talk and clips about the history of film acting. Afterwards, we met and chatted with Ms. Streep and Mr. Demme. They were so charming. At one point, Jim and Jonathan were talking camera angles, while Meryl and I were discussing the genesis of the grand style of silent film acting. I felt as though I were in a dream. And she is stunning! I hope you can all attend some of the wonderful programs and entertainment offered at http://www.riverspace.org/.



Unfortunately, the batteries in my camera went dead, and Jim accidentally erased the shots he took of Meryl and me so, alas, there is no photographic record. But it was an evening that I will remember for the rest of my life.



We also had a wonderful conversation with Bill Irwin and his wife who, it turns out, has done some work at a school not five minutes away from the old Chestnut Ridge homestead. They are so cool and down to earth.



I'm in the process of putting together a more political blog, which I hope to have out by next week. It will be a pointedly comic look at Democratic Family Values. Stay tuned.
